Made from the other half of a huge set of amazing Padauk boards I bought from Brian. Cut to size and edge glued to make a 56×32 dinette table. I used hard maple for the legs and aprons and dyed it with GF Black Gel Stain. Maple does not stain well, so I tried an oil-based wood stain, TransTint dye, but ended up using the gel stain because it came out quite nice for Maple. No pre-stain was used. For this table I made the entire base first and lifted it off the top, and sprayed it with Shellac and Poly as one whole unit rather than individual parts. I think it was faster that way. Cut a nice 3/4″ taper the length of the legs.
Padauk, Hard Maple
GF Black Gel Stain, Shellac (Sealcoat), GF High Performance Satin
Used the biscuit joiner for alignment of the aprons which was really helpful. I attached all the aprons, corner braces and legs as one unit this time and it was a faster build than the coffee table.
